An export model introduced as a middleweight sport-adventure tourer. A 645 cc liquid-cooled 90-degree DOHC 4-valve V-twin sat in an aluminium twin-spar frame, with a 22-litre tank, a standard rear carrier, a screen adjustable to three heights and an 820 mm seat.

A 2019 adventure model with a liquid-cooled 689 cm³ parallel twin with a 270-degree crankshaft in a lightweight chassis. It balances off-road ability, adventure riding and touring, with freedom of riding position, durability, serviceability and luggage capacity. According to Yamaha, it is about 10 kg lighter than its XT660Z predecessor.
