02 — Historical Context
HISTORICAL CONTEXT
Unveiled at Intermot in 1998 and launched in 1999, it was widely acclaimed as the fastest production motorcycle, and it was followed by an informal agreement among manufacturers to limit top speeds amid fears of European regulation. Its look was created by Suzuki designer Koji Yoshiura.
1990s — Replicas matured, naked bikes rose, and a new idea of the lightweight superbike took shape.
