01 — Overview
Suzuki’s first 400 cc scooter, added in October 1998 above the 250 cc Skywave launched that February. A 385 cc liquid-cooled SOHC 4-valve single with a balancer shaft was combined with large 13-inch tyres, a link-type monoshock and linked front and rear disc brakes.

HISTORICAL CONTEXT
Outside Japan the model line was sold as the Burgman. The Skywave was Suzuki’s first big scooter and found wide acceptance during the scooter boom of the time; a 650 cc Skywave 650 joined the range in 2002.
1990s — Replicas matured, naked bikes rose, and a new idea of the lightweight superbike took shape.
