01 — Overview
A chopper-style cruiser created by enlarging the bore of the 1985 VS750 Intruder by 3 mm to 805 cc. Its liquid-cooled SOHC 4-valve V-twin drove the rear wheel by shaft, plastic parts were kept to a minimum in favour of chrome plating, and a 685 mm seat gave a relaxed riding position.

HISTORICAL CONTEXT
Intruder was the name of a V-twin cruiser series that began in the North American market. From the 2005 model year the North American range was renamed Boulevard, and the VS800 became the Boulevard S50.
1990s — Replicas matured, naked bikes rose, and a new idea of the lightweight superbike took shape.
