02 — Historical Context

HISTORICAL CONTEXT

According to Suzuki, the company won seven consecutive 500 cc manufacturers’ titles in the Grand Prix world championship from 1976 to 1982. “RG Gamma” was the name of its 500 cc works racers from 1981, and the road model took its name from them.

1980s — Liquid cooling, aluminium frames and full fairings — racing technology flowed into road machines.
